Baba-À-Louis Bakery was founded by John Louis McLure in September 1977. From its beginnings in a modest storefront on the Green in Chester, Vermont, to its current location in a stunning, custom-designed building in that same small town, Baba-À-Louis Bakery has built and maintained a large and loyal following.

The Bakery’s signature offering is its breads which range from the classic French baguette to a variety of white, whole wheat and gluten-free loaves.

But the breads are only the beginning…Baba-À-Louis also offers a wide selection of baked goods including croissants, cakes, cookies, bars, pies and other sweet treats. Baba-À-Louis serves lunch, Sunday brunch and pizza on Fridays. Baba-À-Louis also wholesales baked goods to a number of local businesses.

In September 2017, Baba-À-Louis Bakery celebrated 40 years in business. John feels this is the perfect time to think about and prepare for the future of the bakery business and the property. He is considering some of his options including:

  • Sell the business, Baba-À-Louis Bakery.
  • Train someone to take over the business in its current location.
  • Lease the building for a different type of business.

There are other options and John is willing to consider all proposals.

Baba-À-Louis Bakery operates in a fully equipped, inspected facility that is “ready to go” for someone to take over the bakery business or start their own bakery or restaurant. For anyone considering establishing or relocating a business in south/central Vermont, this could be a wonderful opportunity. The building itself is amazing and can lend itself to any number of different uses. You need to make a visit to the Bakery and see it for yourself.

There are advantages to buying the Baba À Louis brand name and stepping into the current business. Baba-À-Louis Bakery is an established, internationally known bakery with an excellent reputation. In addition, John is interested in and enthusiastic about training someone to take over this business. This is an amazing opportunity for the right person(s).

Baba-À-Louis is located on Rt 11, the main road through Chester, a charming Vermont village with a number of popular and successful small businesses, including inns, shops, restaurants, galleries and antique stores.

John invites anyone who is interested in discussing a business idea involving either the Bakery business or an alternative use of the Bakery building to contact him at 802-875-4666 or johnlmclure@gmail.com.
